It's All About Perspective

I recently went to Florida and basked in the waves of the Atlantic ocean. The waves in the ocean were about chest high twenty five feet out. Those same waves at the beach were a few inches high. Later, as I was walking along the beach I saw one of those cruise ships departing. The cruise ship quickly disappeared into the back drop of the huge ocean in about thirty minutes. The only way to tell it was the cruise ship was because the waves crashing against the cruise ship were several feet high and produced a white color. The waves get there height from the deepness of the ocean. The waves on the shore are small and peaceful sounding. There is no depth along the shore for the waves to be big. The next day I flew home and as we departed I was able to see another cruise ship departing for the sea. As the airplane climbed and turned a 360 around the cruise ship below, those same waves became smaller and smaller. In fact the waves went from ripples, to darker lines to finally little pimples that were barely distinguishable. There appeared to be no depth to the waves at all.
Its all about perspective.

When I was in the ocean, the waves would crash up against me and I could feel the force and I got wet. When in the airplane, the waves had no affect and I did not feel their force and I stayed dry. Sometimes the best way to keep from getting wet (hit by the waves) is to go to dry land. To keep from feeling the force of the waves, one must go up higher (Jesus).
Its all about perspective.

Like pebbles in the sand. At 35,000 feet up in the air, the waves did not look so high.
It’s all about perspective.

The waves which a day earlier were so high all of the sudden did not look so dangerous, powerful or threatening.
It’s all about perspective.

The roaring lion which is pursuing you and seems so powerful, is not powerful when we look to almighty God.
Its all about perspective.

The never ending waves (of doubt, fear, loneliness, etc) are just dots in the big ocean of life. They only last for a short time when compared against our eternal life with Christ. Its all about perspective.

If the waves of the ocean look like pebbles in the sand to us at 35,000 feet, imagine what the storms in your life look like to God. From God’s perspective, he has already overcome the world and all that is in it. John 16:33

It’s all about perspective.

Dear Bob,
This is so true! I feel the wings of the plane is worship. Worship lifts you off from the situations that bog you down.
Bless you,
Angela
