Pot Roast and Beef Broth
Inspired and written by the Holy Spirit, typed by his servant.
I recently entertained some guests and cooked a pot roast in the crock pot using beef broth for our meal. The guest mentioned to keep the beef broth and not throw it out. The guest shared ways in which the broth could be used again. Fascinating how many different uses for something that I always threw out. I figured it was used up and served no further purpose. Boy how I was wrong. Hold on there is a spiritual lesson coming. So, I kept the beef broth and placed it into containers for storing in the refrigerator. When the last guest was leaving I asked if he wanted some of the broth to take home. He said yes and proceeded to explain how it could be used for rice, seasoning and lots of other things. He begin to describe the process of how he could reuse the broth. He said first he would scrape off the fat from the top and then use the good stuff that was left over. Then I asked why you scrape off the fat, and he said it was bad stuff and the good stuff remained underneath. Then I asked him why the fat only showed up after you placed the broth in the refrigerator. He said it was because the broth became cold. That’s when the spiritual lesson hit me.
When we are following and walking with the Lord we feel a warmth from his presence. Like when we read the scriptures and the Holy Spirit reveals something to us. The Holy Spirit symbol is fire and we often feel warmth when the Holy Spirit touches us. Sometimes we do not feel the warmth even when we are walking with the Lord and in his presence. In fact, we sometimes feel cold (like the beef broth in the refrigerator), lost, lonely and forsaken. Even though the word says he will never leave us nor forsake us. We don’t feel that God is with us at all, because we don’t feel the warmth. However, this is far from the truth, at this point we have to hold onto our faith and trust that God is still at work within us.
We are warm before going into the refrigerator and once inside the refrigerator we feel cold. It seems as though the light (Jesus) is not shining within us or upon us. Just remember that there is no light shining on the beef broth when it is inside the refrigerator. The light turns off when the refrigerator doors closes. Also, the beef broth is covered by a lid to protect it from bacteria. The lid (God protect hedge) on us is keeping us from being spoiled by sin and the enemy. The Lord takes us out of the refrigerator and scrapes the bad stuff off. The remaining good stuff is heated up by God so he can puts us back to work . God does not throw us away after being used. He restores us and makes us ready for use again.
When you have been restored by God, it is as if you were never damaged and brand new. Sort of like the beef broth that has been reused, it tastes as good as it did in the beginning. Well, God’s work in your life will be better because the fat has been removed. God may have another use for you, but first he must set you in the refrigerator to make the bad stuff appear so he can remove it.
Thank God that he sees us as reusable and not disposable. He just cool us down, cleans us up, reheats us and then reuses us for another purpose.

Hebrews 13:5, Joshua 1:9, Isaiah 41:10 & 13, I John 1:9, I Peter 1:7, John 8:31 & 36, Romans 8:28.
